Do Anoraks Deserve This?

I sometimes wonder whether radio anoraks actually deserve the world as it is, at present. A world gone madder than my wildest imagination could ever, er well imagine. Four year olds can choose which toilets to use according to there perceived gender. Transgender men demanding to be able to use women's toilets (what could possibly go wrong). The government's not so subtle attack on the traditional family unit ramps up a gear as you will see in the first video. The leader of the supposedly free world (it isn't) has clear cognitive issues (so who really is pulling the strings)? The Taliban inheriting billions of pounds worth of modern weapons including Blackhawk helicopters.

And all the anoraks can do is sit with their rose tinted glasses on reliving their imaginary past. When three people try to research their real history it clearly unsettles these aging dreamers. To think that Ronan was not really the main man behind Radio Caroline, well that's heresy of the worst type.

If the reality of the past is something quite different to what anoraks believe and the result of suggesting this sends some of them over the edge, then no wonder they remain in denial of the world around them today. On the GS forum, anything that's not about the past as seen through idiot books like the Caroline Bible is now forbidden. There are other places to discuss the world as it is they tell Geoff Hutton. Perhaps GS should rename his board The Free From Reality Forum.

It's no different on Dave Martin's Caroline Worshipers Forum. Bob Meade & his happy gang of wanderers repeating over and over the same old dross about the tribute station calling itself Radio Caroline. Onwards and upwards he declares, whilst the world around him tailspins into deeper and more desperate madness. The comments left hear reinforce my thinking that some of these anoraks are clearly somewhere on the spectrum. I delete more than ever appear here. Everyday someone desperate to vent their frustration on Mervyn leaves some idiotic ramble expecting it to be published. Meanwhile back in the real world.....

It's funny you say that because years ago a top astrophysicist suggested that their were traits of asparagus syndrome in my rhubarb

Let us not forget that on the one hand we have say, a dozen people at most whose mission is to find and document the truth behind Radio Caroline and it's wider implications. On the other hand we have say, a few hundred individuals who are equally obsessive about the remnants of offshore radio as they exist today.

Rightly or wrongly, in the overall scheme of things none of it is of any interest or consequence to the vast majority of the populace. As you correctly state, there are more important things to think about.

I suspect that for many a hobby, interest or obsession, call it what you will, is as much a way of escaping from the horrors of the world we live in as much as anything else.

What are we to do? Spend our remaining time on this earth fretting about something over which we feel we have no control, or should we engage in activities which bring us joy and satisfaction?

Everyone has their own coping mechanism and deals with life in their own way. When an interest turns to an obsession and that then becomes all consuming, a sense of proportion and perspective is soon lost, and we end up on both sides with the kind of vindictive hatred and spite that we have seen over the Radio Caroline 'debate'.

The irony is that the participants on both sides fail to see that their behaviour and actions are exactly those mirrored on the world stage.

And here I am, reading the relevant blogs and boards and putting my two pennyworth in! Why? Because I have an interest in radio and it's history and I avidly read and watch what I can on the subject. I am not an anorak nor am I 'on the spectrum', it's just one of my hobbies. The constant goading of those in either of the warring factions does none of them any favours, and personally I think it's a shame that Mervyn and his team could not just write and publish their book without all the animosity and confrontation, which to me sometimes seems to be the main objective. That's just an observation from an interested outsider and how I think it appears to the casual observer.

Interesting that part of my comment above has been quoted on the Yesternoir blog, and rather a shame that my whole post was not copied to provide some context, although there is a link provided.

The writer asks that we remember 31 August 2021 as the day 'we began for the very first time to fire back at our critics' and relates it to a significant but unrelated world event with Biden, Churchill et al drawn into the mix.

This is puzzling as on both blogs 'firing back at critics' has been a continuing theme for some time.

It also rather nicely illustrates my point regarding obsessions and vindictiveness, and how a sense of proportion is lost when someone is perhaps of the opinion that their past and current endeavours are more important to Joe Public than they actually are. This can be gauged to some degree by the lack of meaningful response to the posts on either blog and what seems to be a general apathy to them, despite the writer's continuing attempts to gain a reaction.

Of course there are no doubt responses of little useful content from those who might be described as trolls which are not published, but considering that there is an open invitation to comment both here and on the board accompanying Yesternoir, the lack of such would seem to indicate that either readers have nothing to contribute or are simply not interested enough to do so. None of the 'accused' shall we call them, have chosen to respond to the accusations made against them, so perhaps they have other things they would rather be doing.

Why can't you identify yourself?

Did you know that in 2018 we were ready to stage a cooperative symposium which would invite EVERYONE who had knowledge to participate? Guess what? Paul Rusling got too close to us and STOLE our research to publish his absurd book! Then Rusling teamed up with Malcolm Smith who filed false government documents and is claiming that there is a link between his fraudulent operation and the original Radio Caroline.

We learned the hard way that anoraks are pirates - thieves of old who don't care about anyone but themselves.

Just before your post, McGregor did his usual taunting about "you can't prove this or that", but we can - by using court room standards - not anorak nonsense.

We would like to invite others to participate but is seems that there are too many vested interests in the present Caroline scam who do not want the truth to be told. So we plod on. Slower than we would like, but we have no choice. Even the person who could not sign his/her name did not offer to help.

That is why we are so sick of the anoraks.

The names change for some but the I.P's stay the same. Others can be tracked by writing style and consistent service provider. Even VPN's can't disguise an idiot. It would be useful if people just used their one real name on these forums, or even consistently posted with a made up name, say Peter Moore for example (Oops sorry that ones already being used).

At the end of the day I cannot force anyone to do anything. When people hide behind a stupid name it makes me wonder what they are scared of?

The use of pseudonyms seems to be particularly prevalent amongst the pirate/offshore community. Old habits die hard. To be perfectly frank, I prefer not identify myself in this environment for fear of inadvertently putting someone's nose out of joint and becoming a victim of a bullying or a hate campaign for expressing an opinion. Not everyone plays nicely, do they? Having chosen the name above, maybe I should stick with it for consistency, I don't know.

It's a tricky one for administrators and moderators. I suppose it's possible that more than one user might use the same VPN and therefore the same IP address if they have chosen the same browser or app. I'm no expert in these matters.

Yes, I am aware of your symposium idea, Mervyn, and your other invitations to contribute to your research by way of knowledge or financial assistance which have been met with a less than positive response. Either people can't be bothered, don't care, or lack trust in others based on their previous experiences. Who knows?

Clearly you are lying and therefore want to add more rubbish to the mix. We have not asked for any money from anyone. As for the lack of trust with people you associate with, we are not interested in attracting them - just the opposite. They are either scammers or stupid or both. We only appeal for cooperation from people who have already demonstrated a desire to learn, and some of them do straddle the fence in order to hear what the idiots have to say. Now have the guts and say who you are.

[Response by Mervyn Hagger]: This is a most disjointed form of correspondence but David Cotter who I do not know, wrote and posted the comments above to another Forum with reference to this Forum and my response to an anonymous poster - who David Cotter has now claimed to be him!

David's comments are not censored, they are exactly as he wrote and posted them.

So if you go back to his reference (it is still on line), you will find that it is obviously related to the year 2017. It is very open and very honest. Real names and real information with nothing hidden. So why didn't this project go ahead?

Note, it refers to the first part of a video and a second edition which was not produced. Why? Ask people like Paul Rusling!

He came to Falkirk more than once, and on one occasion he and I went to a pub at lunchtime and sat outside in the sun and discussed the symposium. Rusling had volunteered participation - including financial contributions - and we discussed the idea of a symposium in detail.

Now why were we thinking about a symposium? Well, if you do some further checking you will see that we (including Dr Gilder) had made contributions to the Pirate Radio Hall of Fame, and, the problems created by the book 'Radio Man' had created cooperative work with Chris Edwards of OEM into searching for the answers that were being kept from us by the Science Museum at Bradford, and by the grandson of Charles Orr Stanley. I have personally written about this in great detail. It took us over a year but the answers we uncovered only triggered more questions.

In the meantime a flood of books began to appear after 1990 when Ian Cowper Ross launched his novel, and then in 1991 appeared on BBC-TV which was compounded by the nonsense published by Ray Clark. Lots of questions, lots more research needed requiring lots more money which our Trio had self-funded to date.

Well I even got involved with Garry Stevens who made me an Admin on his Board and then, Malcolm Smith teemed up with Paul Rusling who decided to switch sides - steal our research and promote Smith's fraudulent venture.

Then Garry Stevens switched sides and removed my comments and blocked me from his Board, while Rusling remained as one of his Admins!

So guess what? The crowd-funding venture to which you refer was stopped dead in its tracks. It never took off in any way shape or form. No money was solicited, none collected and no second edition of the video was produced.

Meanwhile the liars, fraudsters and schemers vaunting the wonders of the con man Ronan O'Rahilly got louder and louder and Malcolm Smith kept getting more and more free publicity for his fraudulent operations.

Now enter the idiots like Fred Bramley who repeatedly named names and attacked me personally by falsely claiming that I was trying to promote the novel by Ian Cowper Ross, as fact. Just the opposite was true. The promoters were BBC-TV; Ray Clark and Paul Rusling.

I was made aware of Rusling's theft before he published when someone sent me an ad by Hans Knot which claimed that I was one of the sources for Rusling's new book - still to be published. I demanded from Rusling that he remove my name immediately and I accused him of theft.

I have a lot of private emails from people like Garry Stevens and Paul Rusling to show that these guys are just plain amoral. They do not know right from wrong and they abuse and use anyone they can to further their own ends. So they think that I am a fool who will go away.

Well, this has been a true lifetime of research into much more than Radio Caroline, and our Trio has been together since we first met in Dallas in the early 1980s, so we are not going away. We obviously believe in what we are doing and so we have self-funded everything.

It seems that if we don't publish the truth, the army of liars, cheats, and con men who, with the help of BBC-TV, are going to leave a lasting legacy of falsehood for new generations to find and discover.

Fred Bramley sneeringly won't help and neither will 'Freddie Archer'. Garry Stevens won't help and Malcolm Smith certainly will not.

Then there is Paul Rusling who has turned out to be the worst of the worst. A true wolf in sheep's clothing.

I just read the "Radio Caroline Power Increase" thread on the Garry Board in which the imitation David Cotter exploded in glee that the Trio had spelled Oonagh's third surname with an 'n' instead of an 'r', but this tiny mind of the fake Cotter does not seem to understand that the Trio have the police report on Oonagh, and no matter what the anoraks want to say, it seems that she is English and not Irish, although she did get a French passport it seems. Anyway the tiny mind of the person who is trying to copy me has nothing to add or even comment upon regarding the facts in evidence, but this fake David Cotter wanted something to add to the Malcolm power increase thread by commenting on the letter 'n' rather than the letter 'r'. Now I wonder what the Malcolm site is going to make of the fake David Cotter trying to misdirect attention away from the Caroline power increase? Well since Malcolm seems to have been banned by Garry, and his radio station is a matter of scorn by Garry's followers, it seems that the fake David Cotter must by Fred Bramley using another name - just like 'Freddie Archer'. Is Rusling still a Garry Admin now that he has thrown in his hat with Peter Moore (Malcolm Smith), or has Garry banned Rusling as well as Moore/Smith, and how much longer before he bans himself because sooner or later McGregor will be posting as Garry Stevens. I have also posted to Mervyn's board (which he won't publish) questioning the name Oonagh Hubbard. Every reference I have found states her former surname as Huggard, so it will be interesting to see the evidence to support 'Hubbard'

I seez wot u mean Merve you xplained it all so clearly, only now have they brought the meds trolly round so I got my Biden window of sanity. Sorry it wont last long so i will do my best on my last bottle of booze to shut up from now on. Scottg is now moving into the next cell and Fred Bramley is already here.
