1979 was not a good year for the MiAmigo and sadly for many anoraks Caroline simply limped along with break after break. That said land based pirates in London were on the rise. However I knew quite a few diehard anoraks who would quietly confess that they would tune over to John Peel on Radio 1 weekday evenings. It was almost like some kind of Catholic confession. The reality was his program was often a voyage of musical discovery for open minded music lovers and his ego was a lot smaller than those awful daytime DJ's.  

The high minded hypocrites at BBC News continue to tell you what to think, whilst filling their boots with cash from all directions. Can you imagine if Huw Edwards had been a GBN presenter, the story would never have died (or been Hoovered away).

The very title BBC News is becoming a metaphor for BBC Propaganda or thought control. I have a new benchmark for their so called news stories. Any thing fact checked or verified by them is a beacon of light to go and find out for yourself and ignore their selected findings.

Do you remember the days when Panorama had teeth and D Notices had to be issued to stop reporting on sensitive subjects, or was it just Masonic networking, secret service cock-ups, and MP indiscretions. The teeth-less woke wonders today have made life a lot easier for all of the above, still better not upset the apple cart, when £100 grand for a few speeches after dinner are up for grabs eh?

Some fascinating videos this time around (if you want to post them on the boards at least give us some credit or forever be a loser). Whats interesting in some of these is the perspective of the commentators and a few factual gems that demonstrate just how poorly researched so much about both sets of pirates has been in the past. In other words some decent research on some of these videos, and yes a few of the old easily discredited cliches about Ronan and the birth of Caroline.

Finally we have been a little tougher on comment moderation here for the past few weeks, just trying to filter out the angry brigade and keep things more on topic. I'd rather have no comments than the nasty stuff and visitor levels are holding up despite a slowing down on new features.

These two videos may well be familiar to many of you. However putting them together and focusing in particular on the segments and commentary regarding the setting up of both Radio London and Swinging Radio England in Florida, reinforces much that Mervyn Hagger has said about the origins of these two stations.

Having said that, should I now expect the usual Mike Wilson is Mervyn Hagger, or that I am his side kick nonsense from the usual suspects, or are we going to look at the subject matter? Or maybe the videos will just appear on the Joke Forums without a mention of this place.

Out of interest, has any Caroline fanatic ever considered that he or she might just be part of a manipulated cult? Just a thought, and no I personally do not hate the modern day version of Caroline, regardless of some of the comments left here, I just don't listen because it's not to my taste musically, so why would I listen?

First it was the GPO, then it became the DTI and today we are blessed with OFCOM, whose masters the BBC, ITV, Sky & company, make sure the TV market is nice and cosy (hence the furor when GB News appeared to break rank) and of course its the Biased Boring Corporation and their partners in kind at Global & the other one, who ensure those naughty pirates are kept under scrutiny using of course, tax payers money.

In the time the DTI were harassing, raiding and spoiling tens if not hundreds of thousands of peoples enjoyment with those wonderful alternative land based pirates, that apparently stole or according to some of the hysteria kidnapped listeners (yet no ransom money was ever asked for), the DTI enjoyed the privilege of protecting people from their own free will.

You would think that fans of the original land based pirates in the UK would be keen that the legacy of those stations is also remembered. What better way than doing that than giving a big thumbs up to those who keep the free radio flag flying over the big cities of our country today!

Yet over the last two decades rather than support them, an awful lot of older anoraks have derided such stations, following the mantra of OFCOM, BBC, and commercial radio stations that they are all a bunch of drug dealers, illegal party messengers, and basic criminals. 

Just like Tony Benn calling the sixties offshore stations 'pirates that should be outlawed' and the persistent attempts of the Post Office and the DTI to shut everything land-based down from the seventies on-wards (and of course the eighties offshore stations) most older anoraks today seem to have switched sides and agree these are 'not real pirates'  and must be silenced.

I say most, because not everyone swallows the propaganda of our wonderful authorities, and the closet and sometimes very open racist opinions of narrow minded individuals that simply want shot of them because they are the wrong colour, or that the music they play is just a noise (do any of you remember hearing that about pop music in the sixties?).

However FM free radio is still about as last years video below confirms.

Even though I was quite young, it didn't take me long to realize that far from replacing Radio London in 1967, Radio One was a complete sell out on all fronts. You may well be familiar with the photo below of the first line up of DJ's that in all honesty followed the money rather than caring for any listener.

Years later as the video demonstrates they were down to just two of the old school. Some had managed to migrate to the then awful Radio Two, and some got a gig on commercial radio. Far from remaining household names the vast majority of offshore DJ's of the sixties right through to the eighties are simply now forgotten from the public consciousness.

Yet a few hundred anoraks cling on to the past like it's some magical kingdom of wonderful radio that can never be repeated. Yet today's radio choice if you include online streaming stations has never been so varied and caters for so many more listeners!

Personally I think that when a presenters ego grows far more quickly than his audience, or when the future cannot change (in their minds), then it's only a matter of time before there is blood on the carpets.

My final thought is this, is it now time for some more blood on the carpet in regards of the dreadful presenters who pretend to be DJ's on the current offshore tribute stations, particularly those who say they have a real connection to the past, albeit pretty much unlikely.
