1984 book Pirate Radio Then and Now available online

The World Radio History website uploaded a pdf of the 130 page 1984 book Pirate Radio Then and Now by Stuart Henry and Mike von Joel a couple of weeks ago.

It has interviews with Tony Blackburn, Emperor Rosko, Dave Lee Travis, Paul Burnett, Dave Cash, Mark Wesley, Johnnie Walker, Pete "Boots" Bowman, Stuart Henry, Kenny Everett, John Peel, Peter Rivers (Radio Jackie) and Chris Cary on his career from Caroline to Radio Nova.

There's also a yearly timeline of pirate radio from 1958 to 1984. I seem to remember from online discussions that there are a few errors in that part of the book. Royalties from the sale of the book went to Stuart Henry's Multiple Sclerosis Research Fund.

The timeline of Radio Caroline has been known about for some years and is chronicled in the Radio Caroline Bible (and elsewhere). Oonagh was queen of the admin and ensured the legals were observed. Caroline's selling agents (Planet Productions of Dublin) were hosted at Chesterfield Gardens by UK company Rosewood, who had leased the property from its owner.
Critics should note that "If a company's registered office is also the home of one director, it is not required to display its name at the address." Dormand companies need not display 'brass plates' either.

My wife (who trained as a charted Company Secretary) informs me that the rules have change nine times in her time doing this - the 2008 law has most to say about it as it now allows rotating multiple companiy names to be shown on a screen. inside a building. The notion of 'brass plate on an outside wall' companies went out many decades ago.

Considering that I got a lot of the early Bible material from MH (and he had the nerve to complain when I thanked him), the only part he is trying to deny is what I wrote about Oonagh and Ian Cowper Ross' company Rosswood Ltd.

He points out that Rosswood had no money and that it was created after the fact, not before 'Radio Caroline' was put together, and that Oonagh is all made up nonsense.

Everyone knows that it was Ronan's baby and that Ronan named it after Caroline Kennedy just like he said he did and that Jimmy Ross put up the money..

I told MH in person that I don't do any research because I don't have time for it, I have bills to pay.

No one has asked for their money back on my Bible and it is the most complete story about Radio Caroline ever published.

Personally I don't have time to bother with all of MH's academic and legal nonsense, the djs like Johnnie Walker know more about ship radio than MH, so I put my money on the experts like Ronan, Oonagh and Johnnie.

Are you sure about all this Paul? MH does seem very sure of his facts and he does name names and sources, whereas you run with hearsay. What if MH is right and you are wrong about Ronan? Even Peter Moore says that Ronan was not to be trusted.
