Sixty Years Of Anorak's Living In The Past

I didn't let a few angry comments from two IP addresses through last week, I get it you don't like Mervyn, he is a bigger fraud than Ronan as you see it, although having seen the late grate Ronan's tactics of money extraction in person I think you haven't got a clue. Never the less keep those rose tinted glasses going and perish the thought, don't start living in the here and now.

So Radio Caroline (the licensed version which by it's very nature has nothing to do with the late Irishman, or even the real founders and owners) has just incinerated oops I mean celebrated it's sixtieth anniversary.  For me the most poignant words to describe it all come from Ian Anderson & I quote: Several times a day at SIBC I phone various local agencies as news sources and sometimes they ask what is happening elsewhere locally. This morning a contact in the maritime sector, who is in his 30s, asked me if there was anything else of interest and I said, oh, Radio Caroline is 60. He replied what is Radio Caroline? I said a radio station that was on several ships over the years and he replied that he had never heard of radio stations on ships. And to think that 6 people from Shetland/who lived in Shetland/are buried in Shetland served on board the Mi Amigo and at least 11 had direct connections with offshore radio. Well we made our mark!

Meanwhile back to 2024 where the sleepwalk into your grand children's dystopian future continues. Better keep looking backwards folks, after all offshore radio changed the world!

Can I just point out that I am very angry with everything that anyone say's that is the slightest bit critical of Malcolm's version of Caroline. Can I also add that I once nearly walked past Ronan in the Kings Road in Chelsea but fell over. He stopped to thank me for getting out of his way. What an incredible man, ok I was extremely drunk and rolling around on the pavement, but he kindly helped me to my feet, charged me just £100 for his assistance, and wished me "LA man". What a guy!!!!!!!

rebels who worked or were connected to the BBC in 1963/64 supplied technical information to (Pye C O and John Stanley), and with the help of 'money men, MP's, Lords and newspaper publishers) created Radio Caroline. It had NOTHING to do with ROR - he was only the figurehead, and his father was paid well for the Greenore facility. No wonder the the myth continues. Because of senior Radio staff members, who had to sign the Official Secrets Act as condition of employment, the BBC were indirectly involved. Radio Atlanta plans were used and they simply ran out of money.

Please provide your evidence that Radio Atlanta simply ran out of money. Facts please.

I haven't suggested that Mervyn Hagger is a bigger fraud than Ronan O'Rahilly. I an also aware that for the vast majority, the history or even the concept of marine broadcasting is of no interest or consequence.

What I do object to is those who make wild, unfounded accusations against a group of people who are trying their best to preserve a piece of history and to keep the memory of pirate radio alive for future generations. I wear no rose tinted glasses regarding the past. If only there was someone who could write a book to set the record straight.

Meanwhile, in the here and now, we all engage in some kind of activity to distract us from the horrors yet to come. Fortunately I have no offspring that will have to deal with it.

I wonder how many anoraks saw the multi-part 'Post Office Scandal' documentary and the more recent Sky documentary about Lockerbie featuring none other than Mr Bollier?

Trying to assemble the material we have already collected so that Joe and Fred and all the rest will actually read it, is very difficult. I figured that we have probably published well over 300 pages of documentation since 2015 when our investigation really began by taking another look at what we thought we knew.

But guess what? The anoraks are more interested in calling me rude names than they are about citing errors in our published works. Oh yes, we have published errors but we corrected them as we found them, because we too started with the rubbish already in circulation - published by anoraks.

But after seeing the Lockerbie program on catch-up a few days ago, it suddenly dawned on me the possibly reason why Bollier sold the MEMO to Libya and why they sank it. Paul Harris made a lot of claims about that ship which Ian Anderson laughed to scorn, but with the sunken ship so went the evidence of something that may have been built into that ship that Ian Anderson had not thought of.

The reason I bring this up is because Bill Weaver walked around the dry docked Mi Amigo looking for signs that the CIA had built something into the hull of that ship when it was used off Sweden. Weaver could not find anything, but he did believe his sources who told him that the CIA had built something into the hull, and then removed it.

The fact that Bollier now claims that the MEBO Lockerrbie timer is a fake - made by MI6, and the fact that the UK jammed that ship with the same transmitter which George Saunders had overseen when it had been installed as a cross-border pirate thanks to the Foreign Office who he worked for, suggests that RNI like Radio Nord was no ordinary ship.

The link to all of this goes back to oil, Iran and the Crown Secret Service working with CIA. Little by little we are extracting evidence - like the ON CAMERA CLAIM BY JFK THAT HE BACKED THE 'DOMINO THEORY'. The Kennedy brothers were such liars and if they were Ronan O'Rahilly's 'heroes' then it is no wonder that O'Rahilly was also a liar.

However, all of this research cost money and not one penny has been contributed by the anoraks ... just rude comments.

What a sick bunch anoraks are.

The sad reality is that many anoraks still believe that the offshore stations of the sixties were freedom fighters simply trying to strip the BBC and Government of their self important monopolies. It took me a long time to realize that was not the case. As you have stated Mervyn by October 1964 that game was up. After that it was all about money mainly and maybe for a few involved two figures up at the government.

As history has shown offshore radio was an expensive business and being outside of various governments jurisdiction didn't make it any cheaper. Laser 558 was hugely popular in it's catchment area but relied on payola to survive, and Charlie Wolf sunk the project by taking on the British Government naively thinking that the government would accept his free speech. That criminal elements or even the three letter agencies inhabited the offshore radio world makes more sense today with the benefit of hindsight.

Meanwhile men of a certain age want to believe that it was all an adventure, where brave men and a few women took on the authorities with gusto, and fought the good fight! If only life was that simple.

Regarding 'rude names', in playground parlance - you started it!

If you had presented your evidence and findings in a coherent and respectful manner, I think you would have been better received.
This is compounded by promises of books to come which never materialise and an attitude of 'I know something you don't know, you're all idiots for not knowing it yourselves, but I'm not going to tell you what it is'.

However, instead of 'I disagree with (insert author/commentator here) because.......' you launched into unproven accusations of fraud, deceit and all manner of transgressions on a sensationalist and litigious manner to garner attention.

It is not so much the facts as the way in which you have gone about stating your case.

I already know how this, if published, will be responded to, which will only serve to prove my point.

Well stated Mike

The Post Office Scandal, was back on ITV news last night.

My guess is that the cynical Crown is waiting for all of the PO victims to die off.

Then there is Haiti which is directly connected to SRE/BR, but again the mass killing and maiming going on there is of no concern to anoraks. They are prattling on about old tapes being played to mark their own fake anniversary.

I would love to create a web page dedicated to the identification of these people and put up their mug shots and real names and locations - and their own stupid comments.

But aside from Malcolm Smith with his own motives to build a new business and Ray Clark to sell books, most of the anoraks are too young to have even been alive in the 60s, or if they were, then like Nigel Farage, they were also born in 1964.

Imagine the outcry from these morons if a page suddenly cropped up on the Internet with pictures, their real identities and the many, many silly names they have used.

The anoraks would require an immediate change to their soild underwear.

One James has had a look. I was aware of the board but not that it was still operational. In fact don't laugh but I have only just discovered the last three updates to this site and thought I was well ahead of the satire by still living in March
